Prior to being selected as the CEO of Greene College and Career Academy, Mr. Ellenberg served as the Principal of Newton High School (Newton County) where the school’s student population exceeded 2,300. While Principal, he led the academic charge to increase student learning, post-graduate career and academic opportunities for students, and posted significant gains for the school as measured by the College and Career Readiness Performance Index (CCRPI). He also structured an athletic program which produced baseball, football, and basketball teams that consistently entered the region play-offs and in many cases made it to the state playoffs. Prior to his role of Principal, Mr. Ellenberg spent several years as an Assistant Principal and played a pivotal role in the construction and transition to Newton High School’s existing campus. His career in education began as a high school science teacher and football coach.
Mr. Ellenberg is a graduate of Georgia College and State University. He received his Master’s Degree from Georgia Piedmont College and his Specialist Degree from the University of West Georgia.
A native of Greene County, Mr. Ellenberg is grateful to return “home” and to have the opportunity to serve the students and community of Greensboro.
