Substitute Teacher Training

  • The state requires a four-hour training for individuals to serve as a substitute teacher. Northeast Georgia RESA offers trainings that will qualify an individual to serve as a substitute. It is the participant's responsibility to complete the application process with the system or systems they wish to work with. This includes an application, references, and fingerprinting/background check.

For workshop dates, and to register for a Substitute Teacher Training Class, visit the Northeast Georgia RESA website (https://www.negaresa.org/substitute-teacher-training) to determine the date and location of an available session.

There is a cost to take the class (credit card only-online payment). Substitutes must complete the entire training, so make sure you arrive early as the course begins promptly. Individuals arriving more than ten minutes after the starting time will not be admitted and will need to register for another workshop.

For more information, please email Renée Bare or call (706) 742-8292 ext. 201.
