Coach Banks brings to the table 8 years head coaching experience, with a combined record of 42-40-1, and over 15 years total coaching experience. He has led his team to 7 playoff appearances out of 8 years as a Head Coach. Banks was named the Georgia Athletic Coaches’ Association Region 2-AAAAA Coach of the Year in 2015.
As head coach of the Newton Rams, he led the team to six straight playoff appearances, the longest such streak in team history. In 2014, he led the Rams to their first-ever State Playoff victory. In 2015, the Rams won their first regional championship in 25 years. They would go on to the third round of the playoffs. Banks remains the winningest coach in school history, by win percentage. Coach Banks has guided over 40 players to collegiate football scholarships, including 10 who have gone on to play at Division I schools.
Banks holds an Educational Specialist degree in Instructional Technology from Kennesaw State University and a master’s in the same field from Western Governor’s University. He received his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science also from Kennesaw State. Throughout his coaching career, he has taught a variety of classes in the mathematics and computer science fields, including AP Statistics and AP Computer Science.
