Thillen Education Foundation announces quarterly GCCA Dave Dollar recipients

From the Lake Oconee News - November 25, 2022

The Thillen Education Foundation announced its Dave Dollar recipients at its quarterly assembly on Tuesday, Nov. 15.

Students attending Greene College & Career Academy have the opportunity to earn Dave Dollars during their four years of high school that turn into real dollars upon graduation from Greene County High School. Their purpose is to provide financial assistance to all 450 students.

For students continuing their formal education, their earned funds can be applied to expenses associated with beginning college or a certification program. For students beginning their career, the earned funds can be utilized to purchase

professional supplies needed to start their career. For students joining the military, their earned funds can be used to purchase needed supplies to begin military service or utilized for continuing education or career startup expenses after completingmilitary service.

Based in Greensboro, the 501(c)(3) Thillen Education Foundation (TEF) is a distinguished community- based earned financial assistance program based on personal coaching and committed to honoring the achievements of 450-plus students participating in the Greene College & Career Academy at Greene County High School, aTitle I school.

Through corporate sponsorships and funding support, TEF strives to break the cycle of systemic poverty by financially enabling post-secondary education and skills training for hardworking students.
